Founded in 2008, Kinglee High School is a comprehensive international school, spanning from 7th grade to 12th grade, located in Zhengzhou, China. We integrate a Chinese curriculum with an American curriculum, bringing Socratic training (critical thinking) to a Chinese pedagogical style; with this experimental integration, we aim to generate independent thinking and creativity among students.
The ultimate goal is to cultivate desired character traits among the students in preparation for becoming 'global citizens.' We define a 'global citizen' as a student who: is fully equipped to study outside of China, can converse in more than one language, engage in independent thinking and constructive debate and balance logical reasoning and aesthetic expression. We are at the forefront of developing a true, international curriculum, combining the benefits of both western and eastern pedagogical styles.
We have collaborated with St. Bede Academy in Peru, Illinois located in the U.S., to bring a genuine Illinois-based high school curriculum and academic program to the Kinglee campus. We also provide the standard Chinese middle and high school curriculums. In addition to experimental academic programs, Kinglee also places strong emphasis on extracurricular activities and offers a diverse international exchange program. After the period of pioneering development, we had our first class of graduates in 2014. As an evolving and growing school, we will continue to innovate our pedagogical style and enhance our academic program by expanding extracurricular activities, cultural events, international collaborations and exchanges.
